West Bay Beach

For many, there is no reason to ever leave West Bay with its extraordinary beach, unlimited snorkeling and the quiet lull of its waves.

For those who do want to explore, West End village is a half hour walk along the beach, a five minute boat taxi ride or a 10 minute drive by car.

West End has hostel style accommodations with numerous bars, restaurants and small supermarkets. It is also the point of departure by car taxi to Coxen Hole the main town of Roatan where the banks are found aswell as larger supermarkets.

La Ceiba is the closest city to Roatan on the mainland, which is only thirty miles away.

Currency

Traveler's cheques are widely accepted on Roatan. They are exchanged in the supermarkets for a good rate.

Credit cards are accepted in most places around the island, as well as at Island Pearl, for an added charge.

There are ATM bank machines on Roatan but it is best not to count solely on them. The banks in Coxen Hole can give credit card cash advances.

Airport Info

The airport is situated next to Coxen Hole, the capital of Roatan.

Upon arrival at the airport 1$ is required to process the passport visa which is good for one month. The visa is renewable at immigration in Coxen Hole for up to three months. Upon departure, the Honduran departure fee is 32$, payable at the airport.

The ride from the airport to Island Pearl in West Bay is approximately 25 minutes.

Island Pearl will be glad to arrange a taxi transfer upon arrival.
